Boteco Belmonte

Sunday midday; 2 hours walking down the Feira Hippie de Ipanema; you think that you can melt but suddenly you sight an oasis; this is the fantastic Boteco Belmonte. This amazing bar offers, possibly, the coldest 'Chopp' -draught beer- in Rio de Janeiro. You can taste many different 'petiscos' -brazilian snacks- inside the bar or in the nice terrace.

There are several Boteco Belmonte in Rio, but the one the i like most is the one in Ipanema. I really advice you to enjoy your refreshing beer with a portion of 'Pasteis de Carne' -Meat Pasties- on the terrace sorrounded by funny and communicative locals.

Sindicato do Chopp

There are 5 'Sindicato do Chopp' in Rio de Janeiro but i always go to the one in Leme. I like sharing a crunchy portion of 'Frango Pasarinho' -Fried Chicken- with my family and friends. Of course that they have a delicious 'Chopp' and the 'problem' is been clear with the waiters for stopping serving you beer after beer because they serve you another while you are finishing the other.

I recommend you to go to the terrace because the nice view and the cold breeze of the ocean and because inside the bar is a little too loud.

Devassa

Devassa is an excellent brewery that has its own chain of bars. They offer, for my taste, the best 'Chopp' in town and a big variety of delicious dishes. I always have my 'Chopp' India with 'Maria Bonita' that is a dish with jerky and mandioca. It is better not to arrive too late because you will have to wait to have a table.

Devassa is a kind of Pin Up so the menu is full of spicy puns and, if you understand Portuguese, i recommend you to read all of it because is very funny.

Armazém Carioca

Another good place to share the spare time with friends is the nice 'Armazém Carioca'. They have a high quality and creamy 'Chopp' very well served. They also offer good selection of Brazilian Snacks or 'Petiscos' that are called in Portuguese, are good but my favourite one to go with my beer is 'Filet Aperitivo ao Molho Madeira' that is a beef meat with a reduction of Madeira sauce.

The bar is very cozy because of the decoration, the furnitures all in wood and, the most important, the faint light. The waiters are very attentive.

Cervantes

This famous and traditional bar is considered the best place to have a sandwich in Rio de Janeiro. Although they offer a big quantity of different good dishes, nothing compares with their 'Sanduiche de Filet Mignon com Queijo e Abacaxi' that is a delicious sandwich of the best beef meat with cheese and a slice of pineapple; it is simply perfect.

The decoration is tacky but easily you can find actors and famous people of this bar because their sandwich and because is possibly the last place to close for having something to eat in Copacabana.
